BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

Image
An e -mail was forwarded to my box sometime in December 2011 with the subject as: “BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER”. Looking through out of curiosity with my BlackBerry phone on the go, I gave a little smile slowly but firmly. Hmm the wedding pictures of a Nigerian actor by name Chinedu Ikedieze known by many as “Aki” were a delight to look at; the “very tall” young man and his newly wedded wife of “average” height, it could probably have passed as one of the wonders of our time. (Pardon me there). Truly the whole scenario could be said to be “BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER”; from the eye of the groom, through the eye of the bride, all the way past the eye of friends and well wishers to onlookers and ear-hearers; a true beauty to behold from the hearts of loved ones. Another look at the phrase, as I pondered over it, my mind went back to the account of creation as recorded by The Holy Bible that “God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good.” ( Genes...

WHO WORKS IN YOU (3)

Image
“ACCORDING TO HIS GOOD PURPOSE”: God’s purpose has never been bad or evil, neither has it brought anyone to ruin. It does not lead in the way of disaster neither does it take the route of destruction. Jeremiah 29: 11 helps us to understand better and see that God’s plan and purpose for us is always a good one. He desires to bring out the best in us. He daily works in us as we yield to Him; as the intensity and level to which we yield to Him is the level and intensity to which He can work in us. A blacksmith or engineer can only make use of the tools that are made available to him, even if there are so many tools and resources on ground, he cannot make use of one that has not been officially handed over to him so as not to cause unnecessary tension or friction between the owner of the tool and himself. God will only make use of what we give him willingly. The more we submit to Him, the more He works in us, the more we get committed to Him, the more He opens the eyes of our un...

WHO WORKS IN YOU? (PART 2)

Image
“WHO WORKS IN YOU”: The tense “WORKS” is a present continuous tense and not a past, present or future tense. It accommodates the past, present and the future. This shows that God is constantly and continually working in His Children. It is an everyday, every moment affair and He does so per-unit-time. He does not waste time, as every working moment is crucial. He works effectively in His children to bring forth tangible results. God works on the minds of His children, those who willingly submit themselves to Him, setting such hearts in His direction – the direction of righteousness, this in turn spurs commitment. He works on the heart, making it tender enough to hear and listen to Him. He gives great ideas to His children; ideas that would be of benefit to man, the environment, and glorify God’s name. He tunes the hearts of His own to His frequency so that they Hear Him, Know Him, Understand Him, Experience Him, and Increase in the Knowledge of Him. He works His good ...

WHO WORKS IN YOU? (PART 1)

Image
There are two powers which have constantly been at war with each other since the world was created. The aim of both is to control the hearts of men and use them either to carry out good or evil. These two powers need men to carry out their plans and activities. One side uses its influence through men to engineer evil and market its end product of destruction, while the other side constantly seeks to use its influence to carry out works of righteousness through men. Some things though are common to both sides; They are: -           Both sides need men to carry out their desires and plans in this world; -           Both sides are constantly at war for the control of the hearts of men. For evil to be carried out in this world, men are needed, as they are the tools by which evil can be carried out. Likewise for righteousness, men are needed to carry out the plans of righteousness in right...

LEARNING; AN ACTIVE PROCESS

Image
Learning is a Process, an Active Process for that matter as it involves virtually all the senses the human being has at his/her disposal. It's an Activity as well as a Process. An Activity that Actively involves the whole being of a person. It involves; The Eyes, The Ears, The Nose, The Sense of Touch and The Mind (which helps to coordinate the other senses and the assimilation process), as it is a measurable amount of work performed to convert inputs into outputs with the involvement of resources such as the ones mentioned above. A Process that is a set or sequence of interdependent and linked procedures or/and activities which, at every stage require one or more resources (eyes, ears, hands, legs, mouth, mind etc.) to convert inputs from the real world into outputs. These outputs could then serve as inputs for another stage or another process until learning is achieved. (adapted from: http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/process.html#ixzz2OI8Dz6YT ) so bringing the t...
